Butler Wash - Cedar Mesa Utah
Butler Wash - Cedar Mesa looks like it has great ruins to explore. I am interested in Target Ruin, Ballroom Cave and Flaming Roof. I am curious as to how much time I would need to spend to see these sites, how difficult they are to find and hike to.
Thanks!! |
We did a hike out to the Wolfman site in lower Butler Wash. We spent about an hour or so there as I recall. The TR for that trip is at:

Thank you! Great trip report

Glad you enjoyed it.
By the way if you do look for lodging in Green River, the last time we were there that Best Western was longer part of the franchise and was called River Terrace Inn. It still had great breakfast included in the nightly cost. |
House on Fire ruin is located in Mule Canyon on Cedar Mesa. https://utahscanyoncountry.wordpress...f-mule-canyon/
It is an easy hike to an incredible ruin. There are others along this canyon if you continue on past House on Fire, but we had some trouble finding them. Well worth the effort to see House on Fire. |
These are all very easy hikes. Google them and you will find hiking instructions. You have to pay for a permit to hike to House on Fire Ruins--something like $3 and you can put $ in a lock box at the trailhead. Look on the BLM website for more info on Cedar Mesa--they have a newsletter with the regulations, permit requirements and fees.
