BUS TRAVEL FROM PHILLY TO NYC

I was wondering if anyone can share their experiences with me regarding bus travel, specifically Greyhound Bus Line, from Philly to NYC. I have never taken the bus but recently I started looking for alternative modes of transportation mostly due to expense. Currently Greyhound is advertising online specials of $20.00 roundtrip. My specific concern is schedule. I was wondering if typically the buses run on schedule.
Any advice or shared experiences would be most appreciated.

I would go for the chinatown bus service called Apex Bus. $12 one way NY-Philly or $20 round trip.
It's mostly students and young professionals on the bus, rarely full unless it's a Friday evening or Sun. evening and has always been on time on all the occassions when I've used it.
The buses are cleaner and better lit than the Greyhound buses.
Tickets can be bought online or at the points of departure.

Thanks for the help. I am aware of this service but was leary only because I was once told that the one problem with the Cinatown buses in Philly is that sometimes their places of departure were hard to find. This was several years back when they were totally unheard of but I do now see they are more visible online and such.
Thanks so much and I might just consider this option.

my daughter has done Boston-Phl and Boston-NYC several times by bus. She much prefers the Greyhound when its prices come down similar to the Chinatowm buses.

Nicer buses, better locations and better safety records. Only schedule problems usually inolve accidents on the route.

You can get a bus from Philly to New York City from the Filbert St. Terminal, which is just a few steps from the Reading Terminal Market. The bus station is very small, but do agree that it is very confusing. Sometimes you don't know what line to stand in until you hear a raspy, "Yo better get in line 12, honey, or you is goin' to miss the Peter Pan to Lancaster," over the loudspeaker.

A friend of mine, who lives in Manhattan, comes to visit me via bus, so I have been to the bus terminal many times. The line to NYC is usually very long. Best to get there early.
