Is anyone know which bus has the better service (from new york to Boston)
Fung Wah, Ivy, or Lucky Star?

The best service is Limoliner which goes from the NY Hilton to the Hilton in Boston. limoliner.com

Here are some websites with reviews (not all current) and info. Keep in mind there are some cos. that leave from other locations (like near Penn Station in NYC) rather than Chinatown if that's more convenient for you. Boston Deluxe is one that goes from 32 st & Broadway.

Also, I've heard that to compete both Greyhound and Peter Pan have dropped their prices and are the same or just a bit more.

At the Boston end, Fung Wah and Greyhound both arrive/depart at the lovely South Station (which is also on the subway system's Red and new Silver lines), while the other Chinatown buses do the usual thing of using random on-street spots.

Limoliner is fine if you can't stand to be without Internet access and a constant supply of snacks for 4 hours. It's the equivalent of airlines' First Class service: expensive amenities, but the travel time is the same.

If you are going between Oct. 20th and Dec. 14th, JetBlue just announced one way fares from $25 from Logan to JFK. Just a thought!

That's a sensational fare, but by the time you add in the costs and time for security and associated ground transport, it's a lot less hassle, less costly, and possibly even faster to take the bus.

Sam that is a good deal - I saw it on travelzoo. Anon: I would rather do that than take the bus, and although most prefer to take a cab to the airport, there are certainly less expensive ground options to make the JetBlue plan cost effective.

How can the Jet Blue version be cost effective when the air ticket costs more than the bus ticket? It would cost more, even if all the ground transport were free.

With taxes, etc., the Jet Blue fare one way becomes $35.20, which is just 80 cents less than Greyhound's round-trip fare.

I meant that it could be cost effectinve (you were adding on ground trans and security time) not MORE cost effective. I would still prefer to pay the $35 one-way and fly than ride the bus. But, the choice is not mine, it's Wingdings and I was just supporting Sam's suggestion as a viable option.

my son has taken Fung Wah four times to see sister in NYC. First time fine, second time break down and he waited 3 hrs for another bus to get them, third time also bus problems...maybe he has bad luck. He now takes major bus line like Greyhound. New flight prices are great, but as some said, you need to factor in getting to logan, if you need to park or can take T in, getting there at least 45 min before flight, then other end transport to city, it ends up being so close to bus time with less work.

The Chinatown busses are a great way to travel (my daughter has used them a few times) but Fung Wah has a really bad track record of accidents and delays. She likes Lucky Star.

Keep in mind that this route is one of the most congested on the East Coast and busses are subject to the same traffic as cars. If you can, travel in off-peak times and you will find the fewest delays.
