Bus from LaGuardia to midtown
 
I know there are several bus services to midtown from the airport for about $12.00 one way. My question is do I need a reservation ofr can I just and pay at the airport and hop on a bus.

You can buy tickets in advance (online even), but you cannot make reservations. It's now $13 from LGA.

If there are no reservations do I need to buy tickets in advance. I would rather just decide when i get off the plane whether I will take the bus. Can I buy a ticket at the airport?

The reason people buy tickets in advance is so they can pay by credit card. If you don't care, then you can definitely buy the ticket on the spot.
