Weekend Lodging: Burlington, Vermont < dr-cassidy > 01/04 01:35:54
I plan to visit Burlington, Vermont over MLK weekend. My stay will be 2 or 3 nights. I have looked at just about every option and have narrowed things down to 2 hotels. The Sheraton Burlington Hotel ($139/nt, $417 3-day weekend) -or- The Holiday Inn Express ($94/nt,$282 3-day weekend ) -Have you stayed at either property? -How would you make the call? I am leading toward booking the The Holiday Inn Express. Thanks for your input. |
Holiday Inn Express is on route 7 which is almost always under construction. It is very congested road. During rush hour it is a nightmare. Never stayed at the Sheraton. We liked Residence Inn and Courtyard.
Are you going to have a car? What's MLK? |
Either would be fine. Route 7 construction has pretty much stopped because of winter. If distance to downtown matters to you, the Sheraton is closest.

Construction maybe stopped but horrible traffic did not. Drove on this road last week. Avoid if you can

The traffic on rt. 7 isn't all that bad - just allow a few extra minutes to get through town.
My husband and I stayed the Holiday Inn Express a few years ago, and liked it. We booked a room, but it was more like a suite, with a seperate bedroom and living area and two phones. A nice pool was in a seperate area from the building our room was located in {not the most convenient in mid-winter we discovered, especially during a false-alarm fire lol!}, and the room rate included an extensive continental breakfast. I would stay there again. |
I stayed one year downtown at the Radisson. Very pleasant , great location.
