Burlington hotel and restaurants
 

We're taking our son up to Burlington to school. I'm gaing up a day early with him to do some shopping (hard to find winter clothes in southwest Florida), then my husband will join us for two nights. Any suggestions as to suite-type hotels (2 bedrooms) either close to the downtown shopping area or Williston? Also, where would be fun, moderately priced places to eat (none chain)? Maybe one more expensive for the night that my husband and I are on our own. We will be leaving REALLY early - is there a hotel close to the airport that we could switch to? Maybe turn in the rental car the night before and stay in a hotel that has a shuttle....

Based on your recommendations, I got Brent a fleece sweater/pullover from Lands End. It's great - except for the static electricity. Would those fabric softener sheets that you put in the dryer help with that? Any other suggestions?

Just don't put it in the dryer at all. Those things are made mostly of air, and don't hold much moisture, so it's very easy to overdry them, which leads to the static.

Hotels - There is a Doubletree Hotel on Williston Road in South Burlington. In Williston is the TownPlace Suites and also a Marriott Residence Inn. The above mentioned hotels are within 10 minutes of the airport.
For restaurants.....Smokejacks would be a good place out for you and your husband. Or, if you are adventerous eaters, try A Single Pebble. With the kids definately to go American Flatbread. Al's French Frys is a great local favorite-greasy spoon food.

Do not worry about state of fleece when removed from dryer. Male college freshman never do laundry (at least my son and his friends never did last year)

BM - thanks so much! And Gail, how funny! I had a friend (male) who would go out and buy new underware every few weeks so he wouldn't have to wash anything! However, Brent is going to boarding school where they are escorted to the laundry room once a week to do laundry - but, of course, the clothes have to get out from under the bed and into a laundry bag......
