Bungalows in Oahu
 

Has anyone heard of or stayed at Keiki beach bungalows?

hi, there are several people who have stayed and posted their opinions on about this rental (Makai1 are you out there? :) ) you can probably find info by typing Keiki Bungalows or something to that effect in the search for this forum.

I've heard of the place and know its location. If you are planning on a total beach experience and it's late fall, winter, or early spring, don't be surprised if it is too rough or dangerous to swim in the ocean around there. The north shore is beautiful, but many areas of it are not always safe for swimming during those times of year. You should know this, especially if you are taking small kids, weak swimmers, so-so swimmers, etc.

Aloha woohoo!

Ke Iki BB is one of my favorite places to stay in all of Hawaii.

It is VERY low key, clean, simple no frills with the most breathtaking views. It is located right on the beach... you just can't get any closer. No pool, though. Great shelling here... also, wonderful sunsets.

Winter months will get you huge... REALLY huge surf. If you're a light sleeper, be warned... it really can get like a locomotive when the swells are up. In the winter months you can enjoy the whales, too.

We like watching the surfers, just a short walk up the beach to Pipeline.

During summer months the water will be calm, but I would still be cautious of the current here.

It really is a great little spot if you like a chill out, sleep in hammock kind of place. ((R))

I'm staying there next week, so I'll let you know when I get back what it's like. I read makai1's report and decided I had to try it! (My wife's a little concerned since the surf's will most likely be too high to swim there this time of year and she loves to swim in the ocean). I'm actually staying 4 nights in Waikiki and then 3 nights at Keiki.

I get there Saturday night - can't wait, our first trip to Hawaii! I do have to thank everyone on the board for advice that I've read since starting to plan this trip months ago.

Just got back from there on Sunday. It was great and I did not want to leave! I will be posting a trip report soon. We stayed 4 nights in Waikiki and 3 nights at Ke Iki. Would have been better if we could have spent a week at each location, but very glad we did both.

I would definitely recommend Ke Iki.

My trip report will be posted shortly. It's a little rough, but I wanted to get it up soon rather than concentrate on the writing!

Alaho Makai1 - we did most of that. However, my shelling was not as successful as yours. I don't think I saw any sunrises, but not completely sure what they look like. I don't think I was on the beach early enough.


Alaho Bill - we stayed in the Gardenia which is the unit just before the Orchid. Did not see the inside of the Orchid, but that raised lanai looked like the perfect spot for a relaxing view of the ocean!

Yeah. After looking at lots of sites and rentals, it seems like Ke Iki's location just can't be beat. I talked to the owner and he said that if I wanted that paricular unit I should make a committment by May! That's a bit early for a June 2006 visit, but we'll see. I think what we may do is stay in Waikiki for 3-5 days and then head up there for a week or so. I have this dream in which I stay at the Halekulani. I love that place. On my last trip to Oahu in 1985 I met friends for dinner at La Mer and we had brunch at House Without A Key. Both experiences were amazing.
