Budget trip to Los Angeles--cheap activities?

My husband and I are making a trip to LA for a long weekend. We'll be in town for three days--for the first two we'll be meeting up with friends--going to Disneyland and Santa Monica/Venice Beach. We're at a total loss for what to do with our third day. Any suggestions for cheap activities?

Thanks!

Hollywood Walk of Fame-free

Grauman's Chinese theater-Sidewalk with hand and footprints is free.

HOLLYWOOD sign-free to look at.

La Brea tar pits. free to walk around the grounds. Museum (Must see) $7.00

Griffith Observatory. free to see the exhibits. Planetarium show $7.00. Uses the only Zeiss Universarium Mark 9 projector west of New York!! And one of the few in the world.

San Fernando Mission. Possibly a small charge or a donation.

Universal CityWalk. No entrance fee.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art. $12.00

Disney Hall. Nothing like this outside of Spain. Self guided tour can't cost much. Parking cost?

Getty center. Free. Parking $15 per car.

The Original Farmer's Market. free. But you'll spend some money on ethnic food.

A couple of tours in LA are free, such as: El Pueblo de Los Angeles, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Central Library

http://www.lapl.org/central/tours.html

Griffith Observatory is free as well as the California Science Center, and many museums in LA have free admission days.

Getty Center and Getty Villa are both free. You have to reserve free ticket for entry for the Villa; but not the Getty center.

Definitely go to Griffith Observatory. I suggest going around dusk and do the telescope viewing at night

Wow, these suggestions are great, thanks everyone!!

I'd never heard of Griffith Observatory and I can't believe the tar pits are actually located in LA.

Is the farmer's market always open or only on weekends?

Farmer's Market is open 7 days a week. Here's their web site.

You can do Farmers Market, Tar Pits and the County Museum of Art in one day, they are close together.

Walking the perimeter of Balboa Island to see the beautiful homes and Newport Harbor is free. And you can window shop.

At the south end of Corona del Mar you can park and hike the Pelican Coast to Laguna Beach for free and see some of the most scenic beach and coast in North America.

Getty Villa and Griffith Observatory would be high on my list.
Take a walk up Runyon Canyon. Have a cheap but fabulous dinner at Versailles Cuban Restaurant. Two people can share a garlic bbq chicken dinner for about $10.50. Add a glass of sangria for $3.50.

Maybe also Olvera Street, with either lunch there or at Philippe's down the street. You can also take a free tour of LA's first fire department and a free tour of Union Station, which is across the street.
