Budget Seattle Downtown hotel
 

Hi! I was wondering if there are any budget hotels near the Crowne Plaza hotel(SENECA AND UNION ST) in Downtown Seattle. I am looking in the price range of 65-85 dollars for Mid Nov.

Best bet is Priceline, 3 stars or 4. You might also give Hotwire a shot.

Seneca and Union are two blocks apart and parallel. The Crowne Plaza is on Seneca.

I agree with using priceline. You can also check out the Pan Pacific on 3rd, across from the new libraryand the Monaco. Keep in mind that the rooms are quite small though- think European hotel.

Weekday or weekend?

Rates should be pretty good at the Comfort Suites Seattle Center, because it just opened and isn't yet established. You can take the monorail right into downtown center.

The monorail is still closed from a fire in May. Bus service to replace it looks pretty thin.

Thanks everyone. I am planning the trip from Nov 9-14. I would prefer to stay close to the Crowne Plaza.

There are a few motels on 8th street, less than a mile from the Crowne Plaza. The La Quinta Inn is probably the best.

The Comfort Suites is 1.5 miles away from the Crowne P, but they have a courtesy shuttle bus that runs around the downtown area. You might call them to check how late the shuttle runs and if they can pick you up at Crowne Plaza. Comfort Suites has free parking and free light breakfast.

There is a very budget like motel called the "Kings Inn" (on Fifth Avenue). It is bare bones minimum but not likely a truly bad place. The area is generally decent - the Westin Hotel is 2 blocks away.

I would expect their rates to range between $60 and $70 per night in November. If I were you, I would make a reservation there which can be canceled if need be, and THEN start using Priceline.com as you bid numbers you can afford for the better downtown hotels.

You should only do this if you are absolutely certain which nights you'll be here in Seattle. If indeed you are certain, then perhaps bid $65 or $70 per night for the number of nights you'll stay. Fees and taxes would make the eventual amount you'd pay slightly higher, but still within your budget. If your location is inflexible then bid only for the DOWNTOWN area at Priceline.

You could make the same exact bid every 72 hours per Priceline rules, and toward the end, if not having any luck, you could use other Priceline strategies to help your chances.

Maps.msn.com says that it is seven tenths of a mile from the Crowne Plaza to the Kings Inn, and I cannot think of anyplace in your price range that you could get that would be nearer to the Crowne Plaza.

Again, if you submit bids on Priceline every three days between now and your trip, bidding maybe $65 per night, then maybe a hotel will accept your price. Kings Inn is a suitable back-up.
