Budget accomodation in Palm Springs?
 

Hi,<BR><BR>I am looking for some cheap accomodation in Palm Springs.<BR>Not at all bothered about hotel amenities, just somewhere to sleep at the end of the day.<BR>Best Western have a room rate of $79 for their Las Brisas hotel, 222 South Indian Canyon Drive. Anyone know how close this is to Downtown Palm Springs? i.e. is it close enough to walk back to after a few beers at night or will a cab be required?<BR>Anyone know of any other cheap accomodation around the downtown area?<BR>Thanks.<BR><BR>Mark,<BR>England

There's also a Super 8 motel located near downtown. It's across from Billy Reed's which is a pretty decent coffee house style restaurant.

Hi Mark - I've been doing pretty extensive research on Palm Springs as we're going there in April. BestWestern Las Brisas is on my short list for one of the better places to stay - those rates you got are great - when I checked their rates, it was $116 for a poolside room (with a King or 2 Queen beds)<BR><BR>Not positive about the hotel's location, but you can go on www.mapquest.com and see exactly where it is. Also you can see the aerial photography view, which is really fun when you get close up. This hotel is rated 3 stars AAA (that's good) the room rates include a full breakfast (omelet or waffles) Supposedly rooms are really pretty. Free parking, cable TV. <BR><BR>Other hotels we're still looking at that were relatively reasonable are <BR>(1) Comfort Suites in Palm Desert<BR>(2) Coyote Inn<BR>(3) Embassy Suites in Palm Desert<BR>(4) Holiday Inn Palm Mountain Resort<BR>(5) Quality Inn Resort in Palm Springs<BR>(6) Shilo Inn<BR>(7) Vacation Inn in Palm Desert<BR>All of these are rated 3 stars AAA and should be pretty nice. My brother just stayed at Caliente Tropics (fairly new) and loved it. Very cool, he said. I don't know what he paid but he usually doesn't splurge on rooms!

Mark:<BR>Since you are considering price as your main criteria, my advice would be to use www.priceline.com, and bid for a hotel. <BR>Check out www.biddingfortravel.com, which is an online bulletinboard for priceline bidding advice. You can see that for your pricerange, you can get some very nice properties, at the same rate as lower quality accommodations.<BR><BR>If you are a UK resident, priceline also has a site for UK residents, but checkout biddingfortravel.com to see what others have gotten for Palm Springs through priceline

We stayed at the Desert Patch Inn on Shadow Mountain Drive and were very happy. The rooms had little kitchens which could save you even more money.

Las Brisas is a good bet. On the edge of downtown and an easy walk to all the shopping and downtown restaurants. Nice pool, outdoor bar, and breakfast on their outdoor patio. I've stayed there several times and like it.
