bt-store.com????

i was recently looking for travel deals and came across a site bt-store.com that had deals that were almost too good to be true does anyone know if this site is legit?

tchoiniere Apr 22nd, 2008 05:59 PM

You aren't even legit so quit advertising

jakatz89 Apr 22nd, 2008 06:06 PM

i am not advertising i want to know about this site i need a ticket from ny to isreal this summer and saw great fares there but when i checked other forums i saw that there is some sketchyness about the site know one seemed to know if its legit i want to know if anyone has used it and if the fares are real

tchoiniere Apr 22nd, 2008 06:07 PM

If you are not advertising, I apologize. When I saw that it was your first post, it certainly looks like advertising. I have never heard of that site and won't even click it.

jakatz89 Apr 22nd, 2008 06:12 PM

i did not mean to link it it just happened when i typed in the site. every blog seems to come out vague as to wether its legit. i am afraid to book with it just hoping someone who maybee used them will post

If it sounds too good to be true ...

No knowledge of this site, but unless one using a bidding site like Priceline, where you buy air has not a lot to do with price - you may save a few dollars here or there, or be able to find a less desirable itinerary on some on-line travel agent and save money that way. But I would be very skeptical of "great fares" for sale from any vendor.

Is this a consolidator site? If it is that could explain the price differences.

I would certainly purchase using a credit card for protection.

What do YOU consider "too good to be true" anyway? A difference of a few dollars, a few HUNDRED dollars, etc.?

jakatz, sorry if this offends you, but how many websites have you posted this on? Since you have never posted on Fodors before, and went to all the trouble of registering just to ask this question, I have to question -- Why here? Why this site? Is this the very first travel question or travel comment you've ever had worth registering to post?

Meanwhile I checked flights from Miami to CDG and they came up with the same price as AA.com working direct. Why would I buy from this place instead of direct from an airline? I like something like kayak better which finds the fares then directs you to book directly with the airline. Maybe they have some deals, I didn't spend enough time to find any though.

i am not a frequent travler. i did post this same question on sevral other similar sites. the tickets i want to purchase are from ny to tel aviv and the fare was roughly 950. the next chapest fare i found was over 1500 i want to book but dont know if the site is safe.

I can certainly understand that many people may peruse this forum, but not register until they have an inquiry.

I took a quick look and entered random September dates for Paris. The fare went from $512 to $882 when I clicked on "Select" and the taxes were added.

stevefrat Apr 23rd, 2008 12:09 PM

jakatz,

My wife and I used bt-store for our flight to Paris this past October.

So, to answer your question. Yes, it's legit, and, yes, the fares are for real.

I have also used BT Store and they were satisfactory. As other posters have mentioned, though, you do have to check the estimated price versus the price PLUS taxes, which can jack the final price up quite a bit (not all the time).

minimn Apr 23rd, 2008 04:16 PM

Yes it is legit and I have purchased several tickets from them (over the last few years) with no problems. These days, they are better than any other source that I can find. I know that this is the US forum but wanted you to know that they only do international bookings.

Leely Apr 23rd, 2008 07:26 PM

They have had some excellent prices to East Africa in the past but I have never been able to use them (my dates were inflexible). I have the site bookmarked.

djkbooks Apr 23rd, 2008 07:43 PM

If you do book with bt-store, just be sure to print everything as you go. Then, make sure you have your airline booking code in a day or two so you can verify your tickets directly with the airline (on the phone or on their website) and pick your seats if you haven't already.

I always do the above, no matter how I book.
