Bryce Canyon
Where is the best place to stay overnight in Bryce Canyon? We would like to visit there in October or November. Any tips for us? Any suggestions? Thank you.

By the way we want to stay as close to (or in ) the park as possible and don't want to "rough" it. My wife likes her comfort. Thank you

First choice would be Bryce Canyon Lodge, right in the park:

I agree with enzian: stay in the park or just outside at Ruby's.

If you're planning to visit this October or November, start calling the lodge right away to see if they have any room cancellations. You might get lucky.
If not, Ruby's Inn is just outside the park entrance, and Bryce View Lodge is across the street. Bryce View Lodge is not as expensive as Ruby's, and you get to use Ruby's pool and other amenities. Lee Ann |
While you are in area, take a 20 minute trip to Tropic, UT and eat at the Hoodoo Cafe. We have not been there in several years, but just heard from recent visitors that it is still there. Food is good, but to me most interesting part was it is part of a smallish building that includes gas station, small market, general store, candy shop - and locals actually shop and eat there. Great place to have conversation with local if you start to wonder what it might be like to live in such a place when the summer tourists disappear.

We stayed in a Deluxe Cabin. It was roomy, had a gas fireplace, two separate sink areas, and close to the rim. We loved it!!!

I think Bryce Canyon Lodge closes in early November (at least they used to in the past, and their 'availability' shows no openings past Oct 31 for 2009), so try for October if you have a choice of when to go. The chart indicates almost 2/3's of the days in Oct currently have openings.
Ruby's is acceptable if you can't stay at the Lodge, and Ruby's is open year-round. |
