Brunch near Carnegie Hall

Anyone have any recommendations on a good place to have brunch near 57th and 7th?

Thanks!

What's your budget? And I assume you mean Sat or Sun - otherwise it would just be breakfast.

Just looking for a nice place to eat. Budget? Under $40 per person. Breakfast is fine -- weekday.

My first thought is Rue 57:

These other suggestions may be more casual than you're looking for, but I'm putting them out there as well:

How about Mangia? Great food, casual space (seating is upstairs).

There's always Astro diner, to my knowledge the only diner left near 6th Ave in the 50's. Note that this is a real, neighborhood diner, not a high-priced restaurant serving diner-style food (the Brooklyn Diner).

Mangia makes great buttermilk scones.

Most places don't serve "brunch" on a weekday but diners serve breakfast and lunch items all day. Restaurants in hotels will be nicer than diners (and pricier) for a breakfast/brunch. Regular restaurants like Redeye Grill do not serve before 11:30 on a weekday and their brunch items are somewhat limited during the week. Rue 57 is an exception to this and does serve breakfast/brunch every day but I don't think their food is that good.

Norma's in the Parker Meridien is one "famous" breakfast/brunch place that hasn't been mentioned. Sarabeth's with a location on Central Park South is another known for their brunch items.

If you want a nice splurge, consider the restaurant in the Jumeriah Essex House hotel, around the corner from Carnegie Hall. http://www.menupages.com/restaurants/south-gate/

Speaking of restaurants in hotels, you could also get breakfast from Ma Peche, served in the balcony bar area of Chambers Hotel...

Landmarc in the Time Warner Center serves breakfast all day. That's another option.

Another vote for Sarabeth's

I've not been to the one on Central Park South but loved the original location. It would be my pick for brunch -

Thanks for all the replies -- I am making a list!

I took them to Rue 57 per ggreen's advice and it was lovely! Thank you!
