Brunch in Wilmington, DE

I am meeting my parents on Sunday for Brunch for Mother's day. Since I live in DC, and they live in PA, we though that Wilmington would be a good meeting place. Unfortunately, none of us know anything about Wilmington. Anyone have any suggestions for nice places for brunch? We do not want buffets, and doesn't have to be fancy!

Thank you!

I would suggest Buckley's Tavern on RTE 52 (Kennett Pike)in Centerville, just outside Wilmington. Also, Iron Hill Brewery, which has locations in Wilmingon by the Riverfront (not too far from the Amtrak station if you are thinking of taking the train)and Newark near the University of Delaware. The downtown area is pretty empty on weekends - although I'd guess that the Hotel Dupont has a Mother's Day Brunch - pretty sure they do a buffet though.

Hotel DuPont's Green Room would be a fantastic locale for a brunch, IF it is still on. I made mucho points with my mother-in-law by taking her there 20-plus years ago. The hotel's quality is still the same (4-star, I believe) but it may/may not still have a Mother's Day brunch.

It would be considered fancy, but it would be a wonderful experience, as well.

I think the DuPont stopped serving the buffet brunch several years ago. Haven't heard that they started up again.

The Sunday brunch is back on. Their web page says it's 10 a.m. - 2:15 in the Green Room. The menu is available:

Unfortunately, they do not state the price, but rest assured it is not cheap.

I would assume that the Hotel Dupont may be too fancy for what you want. And since you will probably meet up on Route 202, taking Route 1 towards Chaddsford will guide you to some great choices without getting into Wilmington itself. With a good map, you will pass Chaddsford & find Route 52 (Kennett Pike). The Mendenhall Inn has beautiful & awesome brunches. I agree that Buckley's Tavern is great, too.
If you want to do a special day that includes the brunch, meet at Longwood Gardens and have lunch at the atrium restaurant right there. The gardens just HAVE to be beautiful right now!
Have fun...that area on Rt. 52 is gorgeous (to say the least).
If you choose to stay on 202, there are countless restaurants there. We LOVE John Harvard's Brewhouse - if you want good lunchtime fare.
