Brunch in NYC
I'm taking my mom to NYC this weekend and we're staying at the Marriott Marquis. Any suggestions on a great place for brunch that won't break the bank?
|
I love Park Avenue Winter at 63rd and Park. Would be a quick cab ride from your hotel. It's a very elegant spot, popular with people who live on the Upper East Side, not touristy. Could be a nice break from Times Square.

Five Points at Great Jones is my all time favorite.

I'm a NYC brunch maniac. I do brunch WAY too often.
For a non-break-the-bank brunch, my favorite is "good" on Greenwich Avenue. www.goodrestaurantnyc.com Yes, there will be a wait on weekends. Good is really, really good. It's a bit more expensive, but you can't beat Sarabeth's on the Upper East Side (Madison Avenue location). If you care, it's also a great spot for celebrity sightings. Yes, Five Points is fine, but it's been resting on its laurels lately, in my opinion. |
Ocean Grill and Dovetail at the UWS are also good.

Sylvia's Gospel Brunch in Harlem is one of my all-time favorite NYC memories. Great food, gospel music and did I say great food?? Need reservations. I would go a bit early - when we left, there was a huge line waiting.

We went to Ocean Grill on UWS recently .. it was wonderful .. and we sat next to Michael Douglas and Catherine .. My husband barely let me glance at them .. Honestly .. the food is fabulous and we are going again in a couple of weeks .. Great brunch menu .. The Red Eye Grill between 56 and 57th is also very good .. We absolutely love their banana cream pie ...
