Brunch in NYC
 

I'm looking for a great place for Sunday Brunch in NYC the weekend before Christmas. Price doesn't matter and I would be open to any suggestions as far as cuisine. We had brunch at Pastis and loved it last year. The food and atmosphere were great. I've been to Balthazar and liked it also. Thanks for the help.

Do you have a specific area in mind or are you looking anywhere in NYC, including Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, SI, Manhattan?

Just a wild guess, but when most visitors to NYC say NYC, they usually mean Manhattan. And since the OP mentions Pastis and Balthazar, I'd assume that suggests the same as well.

I've never seen anyone ask about NYC anything and mean Staten Island, for example.

We recently enjoyed Mercer Kitchen in Soho. I would recommend a reservation, although they did accomodate 3 of us without one.

I thought Eatery (798 9th and 53rd) was delicious--really good food, plus a friendly staff. It's what I would describe as a more casual place. I 've also had brunch at the Sarabeth's on the UWS. The food was fabulous (the jam is the best I've ever had!), but the staff (every single one we came in contact with) was rude. Maybe we just hit them on a bad day?

I like brunch at Artisanal, and that's where I go in my neighborhood if I'm looking for something special. If you want to do fondue, it's a not-to-miss place, but the prix-fixe brunch is really good.

I like most of the places mentioned so far. Lola's in Soho does a gospel brunch that's delicious and fun. Unfortunately their website doesn't work so well and the brunch menu is not on it. It was $37/person I think, includes 3 courses and I think 1 drink. lolaissoul.com

If you want something a bit more formal/special, Eleven Madison Park.

There were two Sweet n' Tart on Mott. They have been closed for years.

Haven't been to Lola's, but mclaurie's suggestions are always right on target (so I guess I know where we'll be brunching next weekend!)

I'm a twice-a-week Manhattan brunch fanatic. A few of my favorites:

* Sarabeth's ... Madison Avenue location is my favorite.

* good ... yes, it is oh so good!

* Norma's ... inside Le Parker Meridien

* Telepan ... UWS ... particularly great for oenophiles

* Stanton Social ... also offers a great brunch wine selection

* Five Points

* Bubby's ... Tribeca ... of course

* Jane

* Cookshop ... totally indulgent

Oh and by the way Neopatrick, I'm pretty sure that you knew that I was talking about Manhattan, just a wild guess.
