Brunch in Kauai

Any suggestions for a good brunch in Kauai? We'll be there for Mother's day and wanted someplace special.

MTM,
Cafe Hanalei terrace at the Princeville Hotel will probably be a hot ticket on Mother's Day.

Brennecke's at beach with same name in
Princeville nice atmosphere across from beach good place to body board a walk up the road.

I do not recommend Brennecke's for a good brunch.

Try Cafe Hanalei at the Princeville Hotel, most stunning view you will ever see. MAke reservations well in advance, specify that you want to sit outside. We have had many special occasion meals there, it is very memorable (bring money, LOL.)

Ilima Terrace at the Hyatt has a good brunch, nice setting, but the view isnt dramatic.

You might want to check and see if GAylord's is having a brunch that day, it is a beautiful, unique setting at an old plantation house.

Brennecke's is in the Poipu area on the south shore. Good location - AWFUL food and AWFUL service.

We went to Gaylord's Sunday brunch only to find that it is not a brunch as we are used to with buffet-type tables, serve yourself, that sort of thing. It is simply a meal where you order what you want, and it is very pricey, but good.

Because the Princeville Hotel is just down the street from our house, it's the easiest place for us to go when we want a big brunch.

But when we have time, we gladly make the 90-minute drive to Po`ipu for brunch at the Hyatt.

Princeville Hotel has the spectacular views of mountains, bay and ocean -- plus wonderful food; Hyatt has nice oceanviews, plus an exceptional selection of food.

Has anybody made reservations at Princeville for brunch?
I called and they said they didn't accept reservations for brunch, but I wasn't 100% sure the person I spoke to knew what they were talking about. We really want to go here for mother's day, but I don't want to wait all day for a table.
Any ideas?

Call them again -- they absolutely do take reservations for all the meals at both restaurants:
(808) 826-9644 or (800) 826-4400

Thanks, Auntie. I'll call again later today.

Which restaurant do I want for the Sunday brunch? :)

HYATT!

Cafe Hanalei, MaiTaiMary...

Btw, will you still be drinking mai tais on Kauai on the 27th of May? If so, join the rest of us for a GTG!

MaiTaiMary Mar 17th, 2005 06:49 PM

Thanks, but we'll be gone by then. :)

I called the Princeville back and they said they only take reservations for brunch for parties of 5 or more. I hope that's right. I'm a little concerned about going there on mother's day with no reservation.

I'd go to the Hyatt, but I think since we'll be staying in Hanalei, that it'll be much easier to stay up north. :)
