Brunch and Dinner Suggestions Needed for Richmond, VA

Hi,

Do you know of any restaurants in Richmond, VA that you would suggest? I will be going there on Tuesday.

I need to find a good place for brunch near Maymont Park and a good place for dinner near the Science Museum of Virginia or Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.

Thanks!! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cary Street is near Maymont Park, and it is lined with cafes of various sorts, though I am not sure if they would do brunch on a weekday.

I am not familiar with the area around the Botanical Gardens.

The area around the Science Museum is bleakish for eating, though the best bbq in Richmond, Buzz and Neds, is nearby.

Thanks for your suggestions? Do you know anything about Stickey Rice or Crazy Greek? Thanks!

If you mean Sunday Brunch, consider the Jefferson Hotel. It's a big production, and expensive, but generally well thought of. It's served in a beautiful two story "lobby" area of the hotel. The Jefferson is probably a 5-10 min drive from Maymont.

No, the Jefferson was my first thought but the OP specified Tuesday.

The current issue of Richmond Magazine has one of those "Fifty Best Dishes in Richmond" articles that may help you make a choice.

I have _heard_ of Sticky Rice, but not the other. I don't live in Richmond, just visit our adorable granddaughter! so I am not too much help.

COMFORT is a really good restaurant on W. Broad St. not too far east of the Science Museum.

Most restaurants in the Fan or Museum District are no more than about 15 minutes away from either Maymont or the Botanical gardens. But a lot of places only do brunch on weekends. I think 821 Cafe, on Cary Street down near VCU, does breakfast into the afternoon -- it's good food, with quirky stuff like rosemary on the sausage and artichoke sandwiches, but it's also very casual, and you'd want to call first to make sure I'm right about their breakfast. I was trying to take my mother to brunch one Monday and we had trouble finding a place, and we wound up at Baker's Crust, at the top of Carytown. Chain, yes, but it was good.

For dinner, I'm not a fan of Sticky Rice. As someone else said, Comfort is good. There's a good Italian place, Arianna's, on Shephard Street, which is less than five minutes from the museum. Also in that area is Cafe Diem (I haven't eaten there) and something sort of cajunish (I can't remember its name) right across the corner from Arianna's. The Crazy Greek is decent but further away.

Comfort is a great suggestion from the previous poster; great food in a cool space. If you like sushi, try Akida on Robinson across from the Science Museum. Near Lewis Ginter I recommend Zed Cafe, I think you can find them online if you want to check out the menu. Richmond is blessed with a lot of great restaurants; you shouldn't have a hard time finding something tasty!
