Brooklyn for breakfast.or maybe lunch?
 

I have always wanted to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge,I`ve been to NY a couple of times,but for various reasons haven`t managed it.This time I`m determined to do it.We are 4 Aussies & I`ve promised my friends that we will have fabulous morning if we catch the subway to Brooklyn,have some breakfast then walk back to Manhattan.
So my questions are..........
Best time to do this.
What is the subway stop in Brooklyn that will put us in a good place to access the bridge.
Any suggestions for a cafe/diner,maybe with a view?
Approx how long is the walk over the bridge (we are all middle aged & reasonably fit).
We will be in NYC late September ,so I`m guessing the weather will be reasonable.
Or should we aim for a midday timetable &have a wander around Brooklyn before we head back to Manhattan?

Brooklyn is the best!!

Coney Island is worth a trip, have a hot dog at Nathan's, ride the Cyclone (roller coaster) if you dare but for sure ride the Big Wheel and walk the boardwalk. There's a nice aquarium there if that's your thing, but many cities have that. No other city has coney island!!

Make sure you get to the Promenade in Brooklyn Heights. It's beautiful, and walk around Bklyn Heights and enjoy the lovely architecture. From the Heights it's a short walk to DUMBO (a Brooklyn neighborhood) and you can have lunch at River Cafe (check if it's open for lunch--I'm not sure)> It has a great view. If not, head for Grimaldi's Pizza for a real treat. Also be sure to get ice cream at the ferry landing and chocolates at Jacques Torres.
Then over the bridge--you'll arrive at Manhattan City Hall (a beautiful building) and be ready for a drink, coffee etc. There are Starbucks all over, but maybe you'll find something more interesting.
Oh you will have such fun.

If you want to grab breakfast on the Manhattan side, I'd recommend Kitchenette (156 Chambers Street)

On the Manhattan side City Hall (restaurant) or Capsouto Freres.

Fantastic information everybody,But can any of you give me an idea of how long it takes to walk across the bridge,at a leisurely pace?
