Brooklyn CruiseTerminal to Times Square New York

What options are available for transport; e.g. is there a shuttle? What would be the approximate taxi fare?

The dock is in Red Hook and the only realistic alternatives are cabs and car service. The fares vary on time of day and which day.

You can call your cruise ship line and see if there is a shuttle.

You're better off with a car service (try Dial 7 or Carmel Limo web sites for coupons) since you will find cabs in that area only if the cruise line notifies companies there will be a ship coming in - and all passengers will be fighting over the cabs.

I'd try asking on cruisecritic.com forum. I seem to recall when the terminal opened there was some controversy about their only allowing one co. to make pickups. Don't know if that's still the case.

Here's a recommendation for a car service to pick you up from the terminal. http://cruisingfromnewyork.com/?page_id=9

When I pass by and there is a ship in the harbor there are police cars on Van Brunt monitoring the cars that can enter the pier facility.

Perhaps a taxi is not a good idea after all. Are there tours which pick up at or near the terminal (other than those booked through the ship?)

After disembarking the QM2, there were lots of cabs waiting and I took one; maybe it was a lucky circumstance, but it didn't seem especially an issue. Be on the lookout, perhaps your boat may organize some bus service to the city as well
