Brooklyn Art galleries, shows, museums, studios
Thursday May 26th I will be heading to Brooklyn for two Art openings. One is at the Museum of Contemporary African Art and the other is at AIR gallery. Details are here:
http://thestarryeye.typepad.com/expl...oklyn-art.html Adu (Warren's) art is still on display at BWAC http://bwac.org/ until June 12th so hopefully I'll get there on a Sunday. There seems to be a mystery walk from BAM to BWAC sometime in the near future. Perhaps Adu will tell us when. |
Thanks as always Sue.
The walk is either June 11 or 12, I wrote to the organizer for the exact date. It is a fundraising event where people walk and seek supporters. And then starting July 16th we have another show starting with the theme Black and White. Part of it will be a juried show, here are the details. http://blackandwhiteartshow.com/ |
Not going to make the walk. I am doing a 5 day with Road Scholar (the company formerly known as Elderhostel). On the Saturday we will be doing galleries in Chelsea (but I may be free for the afternoon....) and the Sunday early is brunch in Harlem and then I may be doing a Central Park walk unless I can convince them to go to the Open House tours in Daniel's neighborhood == (My favorite alternative to the Puerto Rican Day Parade)
seems to be a problem with their site right now www.mmpcia.org |
Thanks SueNYC for the info. I finally made it to the Red Hook section of Brooklyn today and stopped in at BWAC. The paintings and prints were just beautiful. It is not hard to believe that there are very young talent people in the world.

Thank for coming to the BWAC show. We were also impressed by the talented kids from Morrow. There was also art from approximately 200 BWAC members (some of which are not that young.) I hope you return. ________________ The BWALK is June 11 and starts in front of BAM and ends at the end of exhibit at Van Brunt. We will also be a new show called Black & White on weekends starting July 16 through August 21. Mrs. Adu, her sister, and I are working on new pieces for that show. And thanks again Sue, for sending art lovers our way. |
Well hopefully I'll get there this summer. The children's art at www.mocada.org was even better than the Guggenheim in the Schools exhibit at the Guggenheim. Do visit Mocada.
And, 111 Front Street has several galleries including AIR. I do need to send Susan Bee a note. She was kinda surprised to see me since we hadn't seen each other since high school. Her art is thought provoking as well as more than interesting and pretty enough to be on someone's wall. Nice stuff! |

Thanks, I will return. What time does the walk starts from Bam? SueNYC I will keep the AIR Gallery in mind for my next visit. |
The BWALK starts at 10 AM. If you go ro the BWAC site you will find more information by clicking on the name Jon. He is such a sweetheart, I am surprised we are friends.
Thank you for your interest. |
Aduchamp1, unable to make the walk (working).
SueNYC, once again ,thanks for the info, I visited Mocada. |

Understood, thank you for your interest. |
Glad you did AWY. I was going to try to get to BWAC today but I got off the buses too late. I do need to do an IKEA trip so hopefully, I'll do it tomorrow. I loved the MOCADA exhibit and I still owe Susan Bee a note. Her art is great and needless to say she was surprised to see me after all these years.

Sue if you go please go to Panel 139, Mrs. Adu, one of her sisters, and I combined to create one unified work.
Thanks. |
Adu - the IKEA shuttle came first. I never made it. More fun stuff at the end of the month.
