Bronx Zoo...Worth the trip?
 

Is the Bronx Zoo a good way to spend a day (half-day) in NYC? I have a 12 and 10 yr. old. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

It will be a full day and your children will be very pleased. When you get the map at the entrance area, plan your route to avoid wandering as it is a big place. How are you going to get there from NYC? In NYC, perhaps go to the Intrepid (www.intrepidmuseum.org). If you want other suggestions, let us know.

The Bronx Zoo is actually very nice. By subway, it is reasonably easy to get to.<BR><BR>It can be a bit expensive, especially as many attractions are an additional price. There are some days where it is pay one price.<BR><BR>If you are in town for a visit and don't want to travel to the Bronx, the museum of Natural History/Hayden Planetarium are nice attractions.

International recognized for it's threatened animal population. A great zoo not just a zoo by any stretch.

Great zoo,worth the trip.By the way,it's free on Wednesdays(you can make a donation if you want)but you don't have to.

Yes, it's a wonderful zoo and is free on Wednesdays, but you might be better off paying the entrance fee (about $ 6.00) and going another day. We went on a Wednesday once and it was too crowded to enjoy.
