Broadway Tickets (November 2014)
 

Hi,

Planning a trip to NYC in November 2014. I know this is extremely early but when are fall/winter tickets for Broadway and sporting events normally made available. Most availability is up to August 2014. I want to have the best chance of securing great seats.

B'way shows that are hits typically sell tickets at least 6 months in advance - possibly longer. Tickets for sporting events are usually mae available for the whole season at the same time. If you go to the web site of the team you are intereted in it will give you a date when seasons for tickets go on sale - again this will be months in advance - at least 3 and possibly more.

For sporting events, it depends on the event. Yes, for the season for pro sports, but if you are looking at a basketball tournament, then you can probably see those tickets about 3 or 4 months in advance.

Just realize that late November is the beginning of the busiest and more expensive season of the entire year in NYC, so do book things in advance and make sure you have a realistic budget for your hotel. A hotel that may cost $175 now will be about $400 starting the week of Thanksgiving (at least).

Thanks for the info guys. 2014/15 season tickets don't appear to be available yet. The 2013/14 season probably has to end before schedules are drawn up and dates (for TV) are agreed. I'll keep an eye on the sites for any changes.

Hotel prices are surprisingly low for end of November. Probably because I'm booking early.

Any experience of www.theboweryhotel.com , www.yotel.com/Hotels/New-York-City or www.standardhotels.com/high-line ?

Yotel rooms are very very small but new and far from everything. The Standard is usually among the more expensive hotels (especially the one that straddles the Highline), but it's in an inconvenient location for most transit (a very long walk to the subway). The Bowery Hotel was once a flophouse, but it's now a chic redo in an excellent location near transit and a lot of great restaurants.
