Can I trust the online ticket sellers? Or sholud I wait to buy at the box office when I visit New York?

If you're referring to telecharge or
ticketmaster, then yes you can trust them. I get all my tickets that way and have never had a problem.

Actually as I've said here, I recently had a problem with Ticketmaster and discount tickets booked on line for Wicked. They didn't have them and they said the charge never went through. The confirmation number didn't mean a thing because they simply didn't have any tickets (first night of previews) and my credit card hadn't been charged. Sure enough, when I checked my master card on line there was no charge for those tickets.
But that's the only bad experience booking lots and lots of them on line.

There are a lot of shows you can book on line and select your seats at considerable discounts.
