Broadway Shows -- Can't Decide!
Has anyone seen any of the following shows to offer their choice of preference? Can't make up my mind! (Have already seen The Producers and Hairspray.)
Chicago Movin Out Boy From Oz Cat on a Hot Tin Roof Already have tickets for Mamma Mia and Gypsy. Has anyone seen those? Now I'm reading that Gypsy isn't all that, except for Bernadette Peters. Thanks! |
As I said on your other thread, I strongly recommend Chicago and Movin' Out, both excellent shows.
The Boy from Oz got mixed reviews--raves for Hugh Jackman and pans for the show. A Cat on a Hot Tin Roof got mixed reviews. Regardless of what you decide to see, I'd recommend getting tickets right away, as you are coming during THE peak theatrical season of the year. As you your comment about Gypsy, first, Bernadette Peters alone is worth the price of admission; second, it's a good production. You won't be disappointed. |
We've seen Chicago many times - one of our all-time favorites. Though we enjoyed Movin Out, its ALL dancing (fabulous choreography performed by magnificent dancers) and ALL Billy Joel hits. We LOVED Boy From Oz and have tickets to see it again in May (in the nicer weather). It's best, I suppose, if you're a Peter Allen fan, but even so, Hugh Jackman is absolutely fantastic. Haven't seen Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (this time around) yet, but it would definitely be a break from music and dancing - and watching huge dramatic stars in person is thrilling.

Thanks for the great suggestions -- I think we'll go with Chicago and Movin Out! The real reason we wanted Cat on A Hot Tin Roof is because of Ned Beatty -- but perhaps we'll set that one aside for now! Thanks!

Can't go wrong with Chicago, it's a great show. I've heard mixed things about Movin Out--I've seen Billy Joel in concert several times, so I just haven't bothered to see other people performing his songs, but I do know people that enjoyed it.

We enjoyed Movin' Out. Liked it better than the Producers, in fact. Chicago is another good choice.

I loved Chicago-great music and dancing. It is easier to follow the stage show if you are familiar with the plot though.
