Broadway show with an 8 year old girl

I will be in NYC with my just turned 8 year-old daughter in early June. She is in a theatre program at home and I think she would enjoy seeing a show. I was leaning towards Matilda, but read that some of the accents are hard to follow. I don't want to spend a lot of money on something and have her not know what is going on. Any suggestions of shows that would be good for this age?

Cinderella was excellent and my girls (a bit older) loved it.

I don't think Newsies is going to have much to offer an 8 year-old girl, but the others yes.

But I'd also recommend looking beyond the big Broadway shows. The New Victory Theater is programmed specifically for a family audience and presents shows that are suitable for kids. The show in early June is called "Saltbush" and is about Australia and its culture, and it might be a very nice option. It's supposed to be more interactive and is suitable for younger kids. These shows are often shorter (90 minutes or less) and are more suitable for kids with short attention spans. Saltbush is 50 minutes, for example. And that means they are cheaper tickets and have more daytime performances. This one is just $25.
