Broadway Show - with 15 year old daughter

Daughter and I will be in NYC this summer. We saw Hairspray 2 years ago. Wondering if there are any dramas that a 15 year old girl might like? Also wondering about All Shook Up and Sweet Charity.

Thanks in advance....

I would highly recommend Wicked. It's lauded as the prequel to The Wizard of Oz. Great music, great cast and amazing sets. Check it out!

Even though Sweet Charity is about a hooker with a heart of gold, it's fine for a 15-year-older. All Shook Up is also more than okay for her.
For straight plays, there isn't too much to choose from on Broadway, either The Glass Menagerie (starring Jessica Lange and Christian Slater) or On Golden Pond (starring James Earl Earl Jones and Leslie Uggams....if they're still playing. Hwoever, there are a couple off-Broadway shows that she might like--Cookin'and Slava's Snowshow--which have been recommended previously on the forum.

Austin, your daughter might like "Little Women", especially if she has read the book. I took my niece to see it at the Virginia theater and she loved it. We also saw Slava's Snowshow, which was very different, but unbeknownst to me, she doesn't like clowns and it frightened her a little.

I most recently took my 16 yr old to Movin Out which she really enjoyed, particularly the dance. Chicago also is still playing which your daughter might enjoy. Glass Menagerie didn't get the best reviews. I'm planning on taking my daughter next to A streetcar named desire (hoping for better reviews than GM). We also have tickets to WIcked. If you want to see WIckeded, get tickets asap. I don't know anything about All Shook Up.

This morning's NYTimes raves about James Earl Jones in On Golden Pond; in fact he sort of raves about the whole production despite disliking the play.
But not sure how long it might play.
Most dramas just don't become long runs.

Just saw All Shook Up two weeks ago. Really enjoyed it, lots of fun, and it is perfect for a 15 yr old. Wicked, of course, is a good recommendation and both my daughters love Chicago.

If it's still playing, I would choose On Golden Pond for a drama. It had just opened when we were in NYC but we didn't have enough time to see everything we wanted to see.

I'm taking my almost 15 yr old to see
Denzel Washington in Julius Caesar at her request. I have to admit it's not every teens wish, but I'm sure glad she asked!

I think Sweet Charity closed in Boston before getting to NYC.

No Sweet Charity is back on for NYC. It was going to close, but now will open at the last possible moment for Tony nominations.
