Broadway Show Tickets...Wicked!
 

Having a tough time getting (4) seats to see Wicked 11/21-11/25. Have tried Ticketmaster & Telecharge. Does anyone know of another way? I already know about their two ticket lottery, but I need to plan in advance.

You are talking about Thanksgiving week and the HIGHEST season for the Theatre, so since Wicked is a VERY popular show, take whatever tickets you can get.

You might also look on ebay and www.applause.com, but you will NOT get discounted tickets for the show, it is still selling out, so grab what tickets you can find.

You will be lucky to get 4 tix together - without paying a premium price via resellers.

I'm on their email list and they had some limited Wed. tix recently - but not for 4 tix together during that week.

Another option to try would be www.stubhub.com as well as craigslist.

Essentially ticketmaster is the ONLY agency direct for Wicked. If they don't have tickets, the only way you can get them is to buy some already purchased by someone else, who will most certainly be looking to make a big profit, especially when there are none left from Ticketmaster. Sometimes people sell them on Ebay or Craigslist. Expect to pay up to double face value, particularly for decent seats.

Sometimes you can get lucky. I sold two excellent tickets on Craiglist to the sold out Three Days of Rain with Julia Roberts at face value just two days before the performance. The couple who bought them were ecstatic.

You have two choices:

Pay a premium (may be double face value) at an on-line scalper (we use stubhub.com since they seem to be not the most expensive - but there are dozens)

Check ebay (which may be a scalper or may be a private seller and prices vary) or try Craig's list - which is usually realiable (but does have a few scam artists)

No one will give you a discount - the best you can hope for is full price.

There are plenty of other shows if you don't want to pay premium prices. If you're coming with kids, Mary Poppins should be open by then (very popular production from London). Hairspray is always popular and Wedding Singer is fun. The last 2 might be available on discount on broadwaybox.com

I've used Applause for tickets for London theatre (from Toronto) and were very happy with their Fed Ex service, but most of all the great centre orchestra seats they guaranteed.
Thank goodness I was still able to get tickets for Wicked in Toronto. Just ordered them today......I know, it won't be Broadway. :-[

All theaters withold house seats in a proportion of 10% of capacity. These are released at the discretion of the theater manager or box office manager. Sometimes you can get lucky even when the play is "sold out" and during the busiest, most sought-after week.

sorry, hit post inadvertently. Keep trying if you don't want to pay "aftermarket" prices. But nytraveler and others are correct: you will pay at least face value for tickets IF you are able to obtain them.
