Broadway show AIDA
I am taking my 17 & 14 yr old daughters to see Aida in NYC this weekend and was wondering if anyone has seen it and what they thought. I was disapointed because we couldn't get tickets to see Lion King but we are seeing Aida instead.

I saw the touring version recently and enjoyed it-it started slow, we almost left in the beginning but wait it out-it's very good. It's not the Lion King though. You might also try Rent which is really appealing to teenagers and this almost middle aged mom thought that was good too.

I saw AIDA in philly and loved it. It's a love story, so I'm sure your girls will enjoy it just as much.
|
Hit John's Pizza on 44th for dinner before. They'll love that also.
|
It is absolutely wonderful. They will love it.

We enjoyed Aida, and the score is tops, it won a grammy for best soundtrack. Also great sets and costumes. Not up to Lion King, but a very enjoyable experience.

My wife and I saw AIDA two weeks ago. The musical is outstanding! The staging is amazing. My wife barely cries, and she cried all second act. Go for it...

How come you didn't ask this question BEFORE you bought the tickets? What if all the respondents said the show was lousy? What would you have done at that point?

Cathy,

Aida is not the most logical alternative to The Lion King. LK is a cartoon-like show geared towards children - very well made though. Aida, although sponsored by Disney, is an adult-oriented musical with love triangle as the main story line. Maybe too heavy and serious for your 14 yo depending on her maturity. Great show - one of the best Broadway musicals I've seen.

Saw it in Philly two weeks ago. Your daughters will love the fashion show number.
