Broadway Plays opposed to musicals

Hi,
I have a last minute meeting in New York this next week and have been unable to obtain good tickets to any top musical without very top prices. Could any of you please recommend a play that has been receiving good reviews. Off Broadway is fine. Thanks for any help.

Have you checked the discounts at Playbill.com and Broadwaybox.com? Unless you've already seen all but the currently new "hot" musicals, there are lots of top musical shows with discounts!

Thanks for your reply. I've seen most of the musicals at one time or another. I haven't seen Millie or Hairspray but have been unable to obtain tickets for less than $200 -- out of my price range. I did get tickets to Urinetown thru Playbill.com for $65.00! Any reviews on "Say Goodnight Gracie" or "Adult Entertainment"? Thanks again

You might be able to get tickets for Thoroughly Modern Millie at the half-price TKTS booth when you get to NY.
Friends who saw Adult Entertainment really liked it.

Friends loved "The Exonerated" off-Broadway. Other friends have said that "Medea", and Fiona Shaw, is fabulous, but I don't know if tickets are available and it's closing this week (22nd I believe). Or what about "Frankie and Johnny..."? Haven't read any reviews but I'd bet anything with Joey Pants and Rosie Perez has got to be interesting at least!

I think tickets are available for Medea, maybe even at TKTS.

I really did not like Frankie and Johnnie at all. It may have been better with a different cast but this production I saw had no chemistry.

Saw Fiona Shaw in Medea in Berkeley-very powerful performance. Saw her at the National in London in another play--definitely an actor worth seeing if you like good theatre.

Tartuffe was wonderful. Moliere is so much fun! I love all of his works. I also 2nd the Exonerated. Another noteworthy production is Scattergood with Brian Murray.
