Broadway or Off Broadway

Going to New York and planning to see a Broadway or Off Broadway with 3 thirty-something children. We have seen Avenue Q and most of the old-time musicals.Anyone seen anything good lately? The Color Purple? Thanks!

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was hilarious with John Lithgow.

Friends saw Color Purple and said it was very intense.

Depends on what you're looking for.

I just read that Lithgow is leaving on the 17th of January. Still a good musical but he is simply amazing in it. Not sure I'd have the same feeling about it without him.

It really depends on why type of show you're looking for. If it's something serious, then Sweeney Todd is brilliant...though admittedly it's not for everyone.
On the lighter side, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Jonathan Pryce, Lithgow's replacement, should be equally good in the part) is a fun show.
