You can pick up any Playbill, nearly any tourist magazine, or go to most restaurant sites on the internet and download special discount tickets for Broadway Joe's. That should tell you something. Nobody in their right mind would pay full price there, so obviously they need to do a lot to get business.
On restaurant Row? The very popular Becco with three pastas served at your table is a good choice. Joe Allen's or Orso are both good bets -- must be booked a week ahead. Within a couple blocks are also the fun Jezebel -- southern to soul food in a great atmosphere, Marseilles -- super Mediterranean foods in a really trendy atmosphere, Trattoria Daniella -- really inexpensive but good Italian right on 8th Ave. between 45th and 46.
Sam's on 45th just east of 8th Ave., for nice and inexpensive steaks, etc., sort of a brick cellar atmosphere. JR's, on 46th also just east of 8th Ave. (adjacent to Broadway Inn), an old fashioned bar atmosphere with good food (great blue cheese burgers, but more substantial meals as well) at really reasonable prices -- and very friendly service.
