Broadway Inn or Renaissance
We are arriving in New York on August 31. I am wondering if anyone can tell me about the Broadway Inn or Renaissance Times Square. Which is in a better area and which would be the favorite?

Can't wait for our trip!
Thanks.

Both are in the same neighborhood. The Inn is on W. 46th and 8th Avenue. The Renaissance is between W.47th and W. 48th on 7th Avenue. Here the similarity ends.
The Renaissance is a relatively new hi rise structure and is a full service hotel. I believe it is operated by Marriot. The Broadway Inn is a four story walkup (no elvators) that in its past life was a rooming house or an apartment house. It became the Broadway Inn a few years back. The place, however, did receive a favorable review in New York magazine and I have read a few favorable comments on various message boards. If there is a significant difference in cost, and cost is an important factor, you probably couldn't go wrong with the Inn. If cost is not a major factor the Renaissance is probably a better choice.

I don't know the Renaissance but have stayed at the Broadway Inn often and will again in Oct. It has European charm. Includes donuts, coffee and juice for breakfast and a coupon for a discounted meal at a nearby restaurant.

Love the Renaissance. Have also stayed at the Waldorf Towers, and would go back to the Renaissance in a heart beat.

Renaissance is $319/night according to its website; Broadway Inn is $160 (weeknight in Oct.)

Thank you everyone for your comments. You have been very helpful.

You can often get the Renaissance thru Priceline for $100. I've always just called Marriott and asked for their absolutely best rate and never paid more than $189
