Broadway- Dirty Rotten Scoundrels?
Hi there,
I was wondering if this Broadway show is worth seeing. I want to take my boyfriend to a show on his birthday. We like good music and interesting stories, but nothing too corny or cheesy. We both really liked Fiddler on the Roof. We both hated Producers and Movin Out. I saw that Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was poorly reviews by the NY times critic, however the people posting on the NY times website seem to love the show. thanks for your advice! |
The New York Post gave it a good review. I have not seen the show. You might enjoy "Mama Mia" if you have not seen it. My daughter and I both loved it. "Chicago" is another one to consider.

If you didn't like The Producers, you probably won't like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
Based on what you liked and disliked, I'd recommend a more traditional show like Phantom of the Opera. |
As long as you're asking, I'll take this opportunity to put in a good word for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, but I agree with Howard - if you didn't like The Producers, it isn't for you. However, I would recommend Scoundrels for anyone who did appreciate the humor of The Producers. It's very funny, great cast, terrific lyrics.

I'm thinking I'll be able to get discounts for early June on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels if I wait a bit. Do you agree, Howard and spring?

Just saw the show last week and it is great! It follows the movie to the T so if yhou like the movie, you will love the show.
Another great show is Spamalot....going to see that next month but is supposed to be funnier than DRS. If you can get tickets for either, grab them! My advice to you is to watch the movie Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and take it from there. I also saw The Producers, but I saw it as soon as it opened -- it was the original cast(Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick), so it was hysterical. I don't think I would like it now. |
Good suggestion, Patrick, since there are already discount offers available for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
Still, as I said before, I don't think the original poster would like the show. |
LOL. Yes, I agree. That's why I was selfishly asking about "me" getting discount tickets, not karebear.
By the way, Howard, have you seen Spamalot? My now-booked 8 days in June instead of the month I had originally planned, was worked around those prize front row center mezzanine tickets I have for Spamalot on June 7. I wasn't giving those up for anything. |
