Do you all think it won't be worth seeing La Cage after the cast changes?

HowardR Jan 29th, 2011 08:48 AM

jubilada, since the replacements haven't replaced yet, it would be impossible to give a meaningful answer!

jubilada Jan 29th, 2011 09:57 AM

Clearly that is true. I guess I was asking whether you thought that the excellence of the show was primarily in the particular performances or not.

Centralparkgirl Jan 29th, 2011 02:10 PM

TC- I was wondering if it related to Tony rehearsals. I can stop by the box office on Tuesday and ask. If you find out before then, post and I wont go. (I work in the area)

HowardR Jan 29th, 2011 02:42 PM

jubilada, that's a tough question to answer. The overall production is outstanding. So, from that point of view, yes, it's worth seeing. But, from another point of view, what if the two replacements aren't that good? Is is still worth seeing? I don't know.

TC Jan 29th, 2011 08:33 PM

Thanks CPG. I'll post as soon as I hear anything. Is the Tony award show at the Palace Theater this year?

Centralparkgirl Jan 30th, 2011 02:11 PM

The Tony awards will be at the Beacon Theater this year.

Yk, you will love War Horse. It is one of the best, most innovative plays I have ever seen. You will forget the puppeteers and believe that the horses are real . . . the puppeteers in the London show were masterful, they were incredible. The book is v. good too, even if you are not especially fond of war themes (I'm not). There was a large thrust stage set up at the Drury, and I assume they'll do something similar at Lincoln Center. Take tissues.

Centralparkgirl Jan 31st, 2011 01:13 PM

TC - I just need to add that if the weather is terrible tomorrow, I may not be able to check it out. But I'm there again on Wed and Thurs if it's not a blizzard :)

TC Jan 31st, 2011 02:56 PM

Thank you so much, CPG. Don't give it a thought. I'll just get tix for the saturday night performance and let it go at that. I'm just curious now as to what's going on for that sunday and monday. We're having wicked weather here so I know about staying tucked inside. Stay warm and thanks again. BTW: Nederlander Group did NOT answer my email in the promised 24 hours. Oh well.

I got a new Broadway Box discount notice for London. Love Story.
Love Story?! Really?
I simply can't imagine. I wish the investors well but...

HowardR Feb 7th, 2011 03:35 AM

starrs, it's closing soon....if it hasn't already. I think it opened last fall.

SueNYC Feb 13th, 2011 05:26 PM

I did get to see I'd Rather be Right and it is still playing next week in a great little off off Broadway theatre on the Upper West Side next week. See it if you are in the neighborhood.

I am close to getting tickets for the revival of Anything Goes for my mid-March trip. Joel Grey and Sutton Foster and John McMartin sound very enticing. And the Cole Porter music might be just the thing for the end of winter blues. I have read that it will be a bigger scale production instead of lower scale like so many revivals are these days.

SueNYC Feb 18th, 2011 07:15 PM

End of March - Born Yesterday is previewing with Jim Beluchi and the guy who plays Wilson from House. I don't know who the woman is but neither does anyone else me thinks...

And if you are on the UES this weekend, Lena Horne's stuff is being auctioned at Doyle's on Wednesday and viewings started today.

Got my $89 mid-orchestra seats for Anything Goes. Looking forward to it.

Has anyone been to a preview of That Championship Season?

SueNYC Feb 19th, 2011 12:50 PM

This post was inspired by a kids and theatre question at another website.
