Brits who know the US- ATM question

Do British cards work in Amercian ATMs?

Credit and/or debit?

My friend travels here from england all the time and always uses the atms without a problem. If you look on the back of your card, most cards have things like PLUS, STAR, INTERLINK...if you have any of those three you will definitely have no trouble using atms in the US

Yes they do, but you have to make sure to insert the card with the magnetic stripe is on the right, not the left. ;-)

Have used my UK cards in Europe and U.S. The banks recommend letting them know you will be overseas so they don't stop your transactions. But I am usually wary of this as they also have your address details.
