Brimfield Mass. Antiquing Trip

I was really hoping for some help on where to stay for a May 2003 trip to the Brimfield, Mass. annual Antique show. We have never been to it and from what I've heard most accomodations fill up fast. I know there must be someone out there who has been to this show before. If anyone has info on where to stay or what dealers have great finds, it would be nice to hear from you. We want a midprice accomodation that is not too far from Brimfield. Maybe Sturbridge or Worcester. I'm going by a map so if there are any better locations I'd like to know. Thanks.

Get on the phone and try to make reservations wherever you can find them. There are many "shows" and there is not much way to tell you who will be where and if you will like their stuff. Bring pockets full of money.

Getting a map and checking out the other little towns nearby would be my option ... there are plenty of towns that would be less than 30 minutes or so from the flea market. I had two experiences at Brimfield.. I went in the late 80's early 90's with a friend and feel like I made some good scores on some picures, plant stand and then I went again in 1998 or so and bought nothing... finding it way out of my price range for the decent stuff. It is huge, though and if you get there early it will be better, ... I think we didn't go til the last day and many vendors were cleaning up.

Hi. I live like 20 minutes away from Brimfield, I go every May and September. Feel free to email me for personal help, I think I could help you easier than this forum. Maybe get out a map of the area, and see which towns you would maybe want to stay in then let me know. I can then look in my phonebook for you and give you some numbers. I love Brimfield. It is HUGE. No way to give dealer names, it's so big and dealers come and go. It's really a thing I look forward to every year. I love in Longmeadow, MA, a small town...Springfield is right next door and there is a Sheraton there and a Marriott and now a new one on the other side. It'd take maybe 30, 40 minutes to drive there from Springfield. There is a motor inn that gets filled to the brim right at the base of Interstate 291 which brings you into Brimfield. It is a cheapy place and all the dealers stay there. If you were interested I could do a little inquiring and find the name out for you. You would have a car I assume? You'd need one for all your purchases! Rachel

Thanks to everyone for the input. We love to stay in BandBs so I am checking into that kind of lodging.
If anyone could give me an idea of what the weather is like in Mass. in mid May, I'd appreciate it. I never know what to pack in the Spring and Fall months.

Weather in May is generally pretty nice. Although Brimfield's been know to be MUDDY as we do get a lot of rain here, but then again, New England weather, you never know. We have been lucky at Brimfield and had SUN and WARM WEATHER too! So...plan for rain and mud, and bring a jacket because it can be cool, but most likely you'll get a breezy semi-warm day (65 mabye)...and sunshine. A little wind always seems to pick up some days too...have FUN, and I'll see you there! Don't forget your LIST of what you're looking for, because otherwise your brain gets all muddled, so much to see!
