Breweries - Zion, Bryce, Page, Las Vegas
Does anyone know of micro or other breweries on the loop from Vegas to page, bryce, Zion and back to Vegas. Husbands getting worried about three week trip without REAL beer!!!!!! (That is 1 husband each)
|
Hi there - I am not sure about actual breweries (do you guys want to do tours/tastings?), but there is a restaurant in Springdale (where Zion NP is) called the Bit and Spur Saloon that serves local microbrews and pretty decent Mexican food. You might want to check them out. It's on the main drag through town. Also, keep in mind that in Utah, legally beer can only be 4% ABV or less.

The girls don't want to spend too much time on the beer we plan mainly to do 'sights and walks'
but the husbands are partial to a pint (that's just under .5 litre)so we thought it only fair to indulge them during the trip! Planning to stay in Springdale so the Bit & sput will probably get a visit |
Hi Planning,
I only know of one brewery and that's in Moab! The others I know of are in SLC and Park City, where I live. If the guys want "real" beer, head to the nearest State Liquor Store to get it. St. George is a big enough city to have more than one. Ask anyone in town where they are. Not open on holidays, Sundays, and sometimes have "short" hours. Meaning they might not be open when you would expect (or hope). For example, the nearest one to my house is open from 11 am - 7 pm, M - Sa. The one on Main St. in Park City is open much later. That said, most restaurants do pour wine and beer by the glass. Have fun! |
I remember we had a wonderful dinner in a microbrewery in Flagstaff not very far from the historic trainstation.Paul

In Utah, TAVERNS, or BEER BARS These establishments may sell beer no stronger than 3.2% by weight.
3.2% beer can be purchased in grocery and convenience stores subject to local ordinances. You can read more about Utah's Liquor Laws: http://www.fortogden.com/utahliqlaw.html Utahtea |
The one in Flagstaff is Beaver Street Brewing.
Try this site, you can search by city/state: http://www.realbeer.com/destinations |
I know this is an old post but just in case someone else is looking for the same info.
Just got back from Vegas to Moab and back loop. Here is your beer info: Springdale: ~Zion Canyon Brewing (they brew onsite, inside Majestic Lodge) ~Zion Pizza & Noodle Company (Utah micro's) Torrey: ~Red Rim Patio (Utah micro's on tap) Moab: ~Moab Brewery (brew onsite, great happy hour) ~Eddie McStiff's (no longer brew onsite but have their on beer on tap plus others) ~Zax Pizza (Utah micro's) Vegas: Has about 5 breweries in and around the strip. We went to two: ~Ellis Island Casino($1 beers 24/7) ~Main Street Casino Everywhere we went in Utah had Utah micro's on tap. Makes me think it is a law or the state just supports it's local brewers. Here in Southern Maryland, we can hardly ever find any local stuff (Maryland, Virginia, Deleware, D.C.) on tap anywhere. Everyone around here loves Bud, Miller, Coors, Corona and Heney's. |
Thanks Jedi
I have read your trip report with interest. Is the beer good british beer or more lager type. Also can you only drink on the premises or do they sell for carry out? Hilary |
Oh, your talking about "real" ales....now I get it. If he is looking for British style, he's out of luck.
When is your trip? I figured you had already come and gone. They are mainly your standard brew styles (lager, ale, porter, stout, Hefeweizen, wheat, red, amber, pilsner). No cask-conditioned. I didn't find many of the beers in Southern Utah to be very creative. I just read your trip plan and your not even headed to Moab but here's the info anyway. Moabs beers were just normal tasting but for happy hour they do $2.50 pints and 15 cent wings. Eddie McStiff's was the only one that had any different styles with their blueberry wheat and raspberry wheat. You'd never know Zion Brewing is in the Majestic lodge unless you do research. It's as if they are trying to hide or being made to hide. Zion Noodle Company has a good selection of Utah beers on tap, many from the Salt Lake area. Only cash here! Because of Utah laws: ~you have to eat something if you are drinking at Zion and Eddie's. They offer cheap chips and salsa.
