Breckenridge Lodging
Now that we've decided on Breckenridge in December, any advice on where to stay - have a 3 year old so we won't be skiing every day. Just want somewhere nice that is somewhat peaceful and maybe less crowded than the ski in/out lodges. Thanks!

I'd definitely opt for a condo. You can reserve through the resort website, where you can browse through offerings and look at photos. Or check out www.vbro.com where you can rent directly from owners. Options include ski in, walk to lifts, on the bus route, and out of town.

I think you mean www.vrbo.com -vacation rental by owner. Try the local tourist bureau. Stay near the slopes or town for convience or stay outside of town in Dillon for economics. Most places are fairly newish and you can probably select pretty well by looking at web pictures. There are not cheap hotels in Breckenridge, but there are a few at Frisco. If you opt for hotel in or out of Breckenridge, you might also try Priceline if you don't think you'll change your plans. Breckenridge is kind of compact, so much places will be similiar to ski in/ski out if you stay in the village. If you want to spread out a bit, you might find more room in Frisco. In Breck, you would have to look at places at the edges of town. If it's not Christmas week, you won't be crowded. By the way, it is snowing in the mountains today!

If you're looking for somewhat peaceful & nice, consider lodging that's on the bus route and within 2-3 blocks of Main St. That way, you can ride the shuttle to the slopes or just for fun, or walk into town if you want. Any of the booking services can give you names of condos with those parameters. My parents have stayed at The Village at Breckenridge. It's slopeside and on Main St., and has an indoor/outdoor pool (as well as lots of other amenities). It's a condo resort, with kitchens and all those conveniences. Some of the units are dated, though.

Sherri vrbo.com is good, also you might try filling out this form at http://cf.summitnet.com/lodging/vacationmail.cfm
You will get a certain number of auto responders but it does let you put in your budget, amenities...It may help you narrow down the choices.
Hope this helps.
