Breckenridge Hotel Help
 

My husband and I will be visiting Breckenridge in late May. We would like to stay as close to center Breck as possible so we can walk to concerts, restaurants, shopping, etc. Has anyone stayed at the Marriott Mountain Valley Lodge, the Village at Breckenridge or Beaver Run Resort this year? Any other suggestions?

I'm also considering the Park Avenue Lofts. TripAdvisor gives this one a good rating. Any other suggestions?

I, too, am looking at hotels, albeit casulally, for mid-July. I'm currently booked at the Marriott Mountain Valley Lodge, but am seriously reconsidering due to the bad reviews it got on TripAdvisor.com.

Don't really know what else to suggest until I really start looking. And I need to soon!

I think I read where they are updating the Marriott.

We stayed at the Village at Breckenridge in December, and were quite satisfied. Our unit (which we found at www.vrbo.com) was nice enough--the decor was a little dated, but it varies by unit. The location was just off Main St, towards the South end.

We just got back from a week at Beaver Run Resort. It is a bit of a walk from the village center, but they have a free shuttle that will take you and pick you up wherever you want ("The Beaver Retreiver" - the name cracked me up. The weather was 11 degrees on the warmest day, so we didn't walk, but in May it wouldn't be a bad walk down the hill. We had a 2 floor, 2 bedroom hotel room which was Ok. It was nice to have a full kitchen, the furniture was a bit dated, but for our group it was nice to have the room, the view and 2 full bathrooms. Nice view of the mountain off the balcony. The resort is really spread out and has SLOW elevators, but was super conveinent to the ski lifts. We are planning on going back but probably staying at the Marriott timeshare place. We really enjoyed Breck and can't wait to go back.

We had a family reunion at the Beaver Run Resort, and we saw the huge disparity between the condos' furnishings and style, for the same price. I suggest you ask when the unit was last redecorated, before committing to any resort where units are individually owned.

Thanks everyone. Does anyone know if the Marriott has been updated?

My husband and I spent 5 days last summer at the Allaire Timbers Lodge. It is a lovely B&B with a great brakfast. We also enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the afternoon with a bottle of wine.

It is located right beyond the town but there is a path that leads to town--about a 5 minute walk.

The rooms and bathrooms are spotless. The standard rooms are not large but they have a small balcony and there are 2 larger rooms.

We would stay there again.

Another place we would consider if returning was the Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge. It is up on a hill and you could not walk to town but last summer, they were offering great rates. We ran into friends from Akron, where we live, who were staying there. We had dinner there and enjoyed a fantastic sunset from the deck. They were very happy with their room there. I think the internet rate specials were close to $100-150/nt.

Since I live in Breckenridge part-time, I haven't stayed in any of the places you are investigating, but I can help with locations. Beaver Run is the furthest from downtown but doable and you will be walking uphill to get back to the hotel. In my opinion, it is a spread-out monstrosity which never should have been built 30 years ago. As another person said, there can be a big difference between units. It would be my last choice.

Park Avenue Lofts is directly across the street from the Riverwalk Center so handy if you are attending a concert and just a block from Main Street shopping and restaurants. The grounds look very nice and the most convenient location.

The Village and Marriott are close to each other about a block south of the PA Lofts. The Village is in a plaza type area and right next to the Main Street Station plaza. Both areas have shopping and restaurants. The Village is similar age as BR, so units vary and both places are looking a bit tired. Suggest you call the Marriott to ask about updating.
