Breckenridge, CO lodging

My family of 5 is thinking about spending a few days here in August. My children are nearly teen-young adult age. We will do some hiking, and then just want a pleasant place to hang around. I'd like a nice view, a deck and maybe pool, and fairly close to town. I have looked at some of the options but am overwhelmed. Can anyone recommend some places to me? Thanks.

Have you checked www.vrbo.com? Also, check Craigslist.com If you aren't finding what you want in Breck, maybe try Frisco, Dillon or Keystone.

laurelee - I dealt with this issue as well. After researching vbro, I got overwhelmed and just booked the Marriott. Over the summer, the price was very reasonable. I definitely see the value of vbro, but we are only in Breck 2 days and not planning on hanging out in the room on either day, so it was easier to just book the hotel and get the points. But, I have only a family of 4, also.

I'm assuming you've looked at the resort website, right? If you put in your requirements (dates, number in your party) it will tell you what's available an give you the details about each property. You definitely should be able to find a nice condo near Main St. for an affordable price. Then you can always check VRBO to see if any similar properties are available for less money.

I will be in Breckenridge in 2 weeks and my family of 5 is staying at Grand Timber Lodge. We have friends who own a timeshare there but in looking at their website, they rent rooms out. They are more like condos and suppose to be 4-5 star. They look nice from the website. Have you thought about doing a river rafting trip?

I have looked at some of those locations and websites-I just find it so overwhelming and thought maybe someone who has stayed in a particular place could guide me further. I really want the place to be pleasant, as we may end up hanging out there quite a bit if I can't get my teenagers up to hike!

I have heard that there is a lot of construction at Grand Timber Lodge right now and that the noise starts quite early in the morning. I have not called the lodge. Anyone know anything about the construction?

We are staying at the River Mountain Lodge...it seems very nice for the price and it is a condo hotel!

PS they are also offering a one night free deal....just contacted them and asked if we could use it for a previous reseravtion>

When I look at the condo websites-they sometimes ask to sort by location. Can someone tell me what a desired location would be? Perhaps by a lift number--or certain direction or street from town...anything like that?
A desired location would be one that has a nice view of the mountains or trees, a stream. etc. Thanks..it's so hard to know not having been there.
