BR is not that far from downtown. Breckinridge has an excellent free bus system. Check with breckenridge resort. Should be a lot of good deals this time of year.

We stayed at Mt. Thunder Lodge and booked through VRBO.com. Loved the location and the property was very nice. On VRBO.com this property is listed under Peak 8. Also had no problem with booking, etc.. David and Diana have a great system set up for those renting from them.

We stayed at the Valdoro and could walk to town. We had a two bedroom condo and it was very nice-plenty of room and a washer and dryer.

Forgot to post a trip report! We did enjoy it so much we are going back this year....great place!!!! In the middle of July I was waking up to 40 degree weather with a high of 75-80 while it was 105 in kansas city. Great restaurants, sights, peak 8 for kids...bike trails, hiking trails. Took in a Rockies game on way home to kansas city...nice ball park!

What's the hiking like near Breck? Great views?

fmpden Aug 26th, 2012 12:13 PM

Breck sits in a canyon so the immediate hiking is limited. However you can drive to a number of trail heads, especially Gold mountain, for goog hiking areas.

fmp, I know the hiking near Aspen is supposed to be very good - are there other areas you would recommend (I know, I should start my own thread, and I will).
