breckenridge co

we will be traveling to breckenridge. co for the first time this march 15-21 with our 2 kids ages 6 and 8. any recommendations on other fun things to take advantage of with them , besides the obvious skiing. we have heard about dog sledding that is fun. any thoughts on ski school vs. private lessons for them?
does any one have any favorite restaurants to recommend or others things we should not miss?
thanks,

From observing the experiences of my kids and many of our friends' children, I think your children will learn more and have more fun in group ski school.
I suggest that you go over to Vail one afternoon/evening to Adventure Ridge (use gondola on Lionshead side of Vail). AR has ice skating, tubing, kid-sized snowmobiles and ski bikes.
Dog sledding is a great activity. Your children will love it. Unfortunately, we haven't done that in Summit County so I have no recommendation for that area.

I'd go the group lesson route--the kids will have more fun and there's less pressure to 'perform.' Plus at 6 and 8, they'll stop for lunch and maybe some craft time or fun time so they get a little break.

Ice skating in Keystone is fun, as is nighttime skiing. I've heard of some sleigh ride outfitters that combine a ride with dinner, so that might be fun. Breck has quite a few restaurants on its main street, including a few chains, like Bubba Gumps. You'll be there over St. Patrick's day--I remember skiing in Summit County as a teen and there were always fun things going on that day. Am sure you can get the scoop once you're there.

Hmmmmm, how many times can I say 'fun' in one post???? Oh well, you get the idea that you'll have a good time!

We did a sleigh ride and loved it - very picturesque with the snow falling all around.
