Breakfast near the Amalfi - Chicago
I will be staying at the Amalfi in a couple of weeks and will need a cure for a big cocktail night in the mornings. I have my favorites located further north, Pancake House, Pierro Gourmet, but need some ideas closer to the river.
Any ideas? |

I don't know that specific area, cfntmpn and there are SO many in Chicago, but this is what I do.
Put your hotel address into www.metromix.com 's breakfast restaurant distance list and get a few possibles that way. Then you can ask about specific experiences with those mentioned or see the reviews on metromix or elsewhere. |
Not a whole lot of choices there for breakfast as it's a business district primarily and breakfast usually consists of a muffin and coffee to go.
A block or two West on Clark street is the Corner Bakery - but it will be mostly baked goods. Perhaps some of the restaurants around your hotel, like Keefer's, Brasserie Jo or Harry Caray's has brunch. I would check metromix.com for that information. |
Corner Bakery has more than baked goods. They just don't have waitresses (it's counter service). They have eggs and bacon and excellent oatmeal with craisins.
I udes to work right around there and can't think of any sit-down breakfast places off the top of my head, except the one in the Ohio Hotel on Ohio and LaSalle. And that's WAY more diner than Pierro Gourmet! HTH, Racy |
Racy- I think that diner on LaSalle & Ohio is closed now along with the hotel (if you're thinking of the place attached to the hotel).
Yes, I know Corner Bakery has eggs, but the last time I was in there, they were the pre-prepared scrambled eggs set out on a steam table, right? I should have mentioned that, but I was thinking the OP was looking for more made-to-order dishes based upon some of the places she had listed. |
