The Garden Court at the Palace Hotel is special and unique, and breakfast is served there.

Actually Sunday BRUNCH at Palace is spectacular...really the best I have been too except possibly Brunch in New Orleans waterside MArriott...
Garden court has anythng you want including a nice 3 piece band, amazinf dim sum, seafood, etc. It is expensive tho for some..a one of a kind experience with the wonderful old "coach" room of the Hotel..fabulous architecture, chandeliers..

If you just want breakfast...Sears Fine Foods is great for swedish pancakes and other hearty fare...or across the street is Cafe Expresso where we often go too for breackfast or early dinner or late after theater show. Not a fancy place and small but has reasobale prices and a bonus..you have ringside streets to the Powell Street Cable car going by...

I don't know about special or unique, but I had an awesome breakfast at Dotty's True Blue Cafe on Jones St. The seating is minimal, but the food excellent.

Dottie's True Blue, and the even more casual Red's Java House. Oh, if you have a way to get to the Cole Valley district (the N Judah Muni rail line goes there), check out Zazie for brunch. French Bistro/ Cafe also casual. :-)

Wow, we are going all over the map here, aren't we, from the Garden Court at the Palace to Dottie's True Blue.

Sear's is good, of course, if you like standing out on the sidewalk for a table, and on weekends that might be quite a long time.

Anybody have an opinion on the Cliff House? I am not even sure they serve breakfast/brunch, but if they do the view would be worth it.

I just didn't "get" Sears. Sort of a mediocre Denny's quality place. What is the draw?

Certainly much more upscale, but very reaonable is having breakfast at Kuleto's.

I love Ella's out in Presidio Heights.

And I like the relaxed atmosphere and nice breakfasts at The Grove in the Marina on Chestnut. Can't beat their huge granola, fruit, and yoghurt bowl.

Since I will not stand in line to wait for a table I never eat at Sear's.

I was thinking of Kuleto's also. tburkegolf, Kuleto's is attached to the Villa Florence Hotel, just a half a block south (toward Market St) from Union Square. What area of SF will you be staying in while in SF?

We love Dottie's True Blue also. Sears never did much for me, but the buffet at the Palace Hotel sounds wonderful.
