Breakfast in Redondo Beach
Please recommend good places for breakfast in or near Redondo Beach. We will be staying at the Crowne Plaza but will have a car. Thanks.

For good breakfasts with a view:
Good Stuff on the Strand in Hermosa Beach. www.eatgoodstuff.com Martha's on 22nd Street in Hermosa Beach. Hennessey's Tavern has locations in Hermosa and Redondo. The Hermosa location has the better view. www.hennessystavern.com You don't have to drive, just rent a beach cruiser and bike to breakfast along The Strand. Near the Crowne Plaza in King Harbor, there is Polly's on the Pier and a little restaurant in the Best Western Sunrise. I don't think any of the other restaurants in the Harbor serve breakfast, but I know the Cheesecake Factory serves Sunday Brunch. |
Thanks. It's good to know about the local restaurants, rather than the same old chains.

Ivk, (hi) is right on with her suggestions. I'll only add, next door to Hennessey's Tavern in Hermosa, is Scotty's (a real time warp)with the same great view, and cheap eats! Free small parking lot behind the restaurant.

Not a big fan of Scotty's, but the prices are good.
I forgot to mention that these places generally have long waits to get in on the weekends. Plan accordingly. I also thought of a few, non-view places in Hermosa. The Beach Hut for Hawaiian-style breakfast and Eat at Joe's (formerly the Backburner) for diner-type atmosphere. |
What makes a breakfast Hawaiian-style? I've been to the islands several times and found the breakfasts to be good but not distinctive.
|
Hawaiian-style breakfasts: you can get rice, Portuguese sausage, fish or spam with your eggs, and Hawaiian sweet bread on the side.

Check out the Original Pancake House on PCH in the southern end of REdondo near Riviera Village--also a fun area to check out. In addition to pancakes, the restuarant serves omelettes where they whip the egg whites, fold them into the yolks, bake them and they come puffy and delicious to the table.
