Breakfast in Ann Arbor, Michigan
OK, here's to obscure postings...
I need a breakfast location for 8 in Ann Arbor, Michigan later this month. Formerly from the area, I've been gone for a long time and just don't know my way around. Would appreciate any suggestions! No Bob Evans, no Denny's please, but would love to know if there is a place with local flair and flavor! Thanks!

Another vote for Angelo's -- the french toast is fantastic, and the homemade raisin bread is out of this world! Very casual. If you are looking for a more upscale place for Sunday brunch, the Gandy Dancer is excellent (old train depot converted to a restaurant).

Angelo's is THE place to go for breakfast. Only downside is that you need to be prepared to wait on line, and not the type of place that you could linger around afterwards.
A second suggestion (and NOT a distant alternative) is to make it a late breakfast/early lunch and head over to Zingermans for some of the best sandwiches in the country!

My recollection is that Seva on Liberty street also serves breakfast - great vegetarian restaurant. I'd suggest calling about breakfast beforehand, since I can't recall if they serve it every day or not. Angelo's is a good suggestion too - although it is a small place and might be a bit crowded for a party of 8.
The Fleetwood is still in existance - for local 'flavor' - 24 hours a day. Also small and crowded (it is a diner) for a party of 8 - but The Fleetwood is a true Ann Arbor institution.

What a funny coincidence! I'm looking for the same thing. Have had many wonderful meals in Ann Arbor area restaurants but am also stuck looking for a suggestion. Sounds like I need something larger than Angelo's--I have 4 sets of grandparents and mom and dad. Any other suggestions?

Not exactly a "foodie's" choice, but i'd imagine The Brown Jug would make a decent breakfast, can accomodate a larger crowd, and allow diners to linger somewhat after the meal.
I still recommend making a late breakfast/early lunch (if possible) and go to Zingermans... for a truly memorable event.
