Breakers Inn, Biloxi, MS

Anybody familiar with the Breakers Inn in Biloxi, Mississippi?

Is it in a nice, safe, touristy area? Amenities? Location to beach -- they say its across the street --- is it an easy street to cross?

We have an option to stay there in April fairly cheap, and if its a nice place, we will grab it.

Any and all replies greatly appreciated.

Apparently its in Gulfport, MS -- will that make a difference?

Thank you.

I believe The Breakers Inn is a motel located near the main shopping mall in Gulfport. Gulfport and Biloxi are connected. It would be across the road from the beach area. No, it is not easy to cross the road, as the traffic is terrible. I would recommend staying at one of the large hotels on the ocean side with restaurants and a casino. We like The Beau Rivage or one of The Grand hotels. The Grand in Gulport has a lovely pool area. These hotels have specials and websites. If you are going to gamble, it is easier to stay in one of the hotels connected to a casino. The motels have shuttles, but you spend a lot of time waiting for the shuttle. Hope this helps. If you have nay more questions I will be glad to try and answer.

Thank you for your reply, Sabrina!

We weren't intentionally looking for a place in this area, but some acquaintances (not friends, so I don't mind turning them down!) offered us their place at the Breakers Inn for what seems to be a VERY low price, like $45 a night, because we're friends of friends.

We've heard about the gulf coast for years so thought we might try it out.

However, while we'd love the chance at a beach vacation on the cheap, we really don't want to stay in a dump, and I'm getting the feeling this isn't the best location or accomodations.

I also read that the beach is lovely, but you can't swim in the water -- is that true, too?

Do you know anything about the pool at the Breakers?

Thanks again!!!

I know nothing about the pool at The Breakers. Unless the pool is heated, it will probably be too cool for swimming in April. You might call The Breakers and ask if the pool is inside and heated. I have never swam in the ocean there, but I have seen people in the water. WAlking on the beach is nice. You can rent cabanas by the day. New Orleans is a nice drive from Biloxi and the casinos offer some good shows. I am sorry I cannot answer your questions about the quality of The Breakers. I just remember seeing it, as I drive by. You might check and see if they have a website.

The Biloxi/Gulfport area isn't really known as a beach destination. I suggest you go farther east to Orange Beach, Alabama or Florida to enjoy wide, white sandy Gulf beaches.
