Breakers in Palm Beach
 

Considering the Breakers for a long weekend at the end of June. Is this the kind of place where I won't need a rental car if I mainly just want to enjoy the beach? Really not wanting to do much site-seeing -- just looking for r&r in the sun. Is Worth Ave. or other shopping within walking distance? Would I be able to eat at the hotel for 3 or 4 days in a row or are other restaurants within a quick cab ride away?

There isn't anything close to the Breakers. As with anything on Palm Beach, it is all very expensive. Eating at the hotel would surely be $$$$$. If you look at their web site the menus are posted. www.thebreakers.com. There are lots of restaurants on PB but again, all are pricey. The only shopping on PB is Worth Ave and is a good walk. Perhaps I'm just frugal but it all seems very pricey ! Good luck !

The Breakers is great. Worth Ave is not really walking distance, but you could take a short cab ride. Other restaurants I like in the area would include Echo.

If you have enough $$$$ to stay at The Breakers I don't think car rental vs. cab would be an issue. get both.

It is an impressive hotel and I would most certainly spend a long weekend there if it were an option.

I would venture off property and stay on property. Shopping on Worth Avenue is spendy but you can walk right around the corner to The Church Mouse which is one of the best consignment stores in the country.

You could stay at the Brazillian Court. It is within walking distance to the Worth Avenue area.

The Palm Beach Trail is a publicly accessed walking riding path that boarders some of the most expensive real estate in the country and Lake Worth on the other side.

Eat at Taboo on Worth Avenue to see and be seen. Also, DB at the Brazillion Court.
