Branson, MO info

We are planning an automobile trip that will take us near Branson in the fall. Can anyone tell me if tickets to the shows are available easily? Where do you get them? We don't want to purchase till we get there since we're not sure when we'll be there. Also, are hotel/motel rooms available in or near town without reservations?

Sue, you probably won't get too many replies to your inquiry on this site, because it is rather fashionable and snobby to pooh=pooh Branson. However, I feel it is a delightful place and hope you enjoy it. Unfortunately, I don't have the name of the place at hand, but there is at least one, and possibly more places where you can choose your shows and times, and they offer a package price for all the shows you wish. No need to purchase them in advance, however, some shows possibly may be filled up.

There are dozens and dozens of hotels in Branson. I'm guessing but not promising you should be able to get a room without advance reservations, but you may have to lower your standards a bit. Autumn is a popular time to visit Branson because of the weather, and the many craft shows going on. Enjoy. Marie

Sorry, Sue, I should have added that any motel/hotel would be able to put you in touch with the ticket agencies - just ask

You should not have any problem getting a room or tickets to shows in Branson. There has been a downturn in visitors lately and rooms are plentiful. Show tickets can be purchased at the Theaters the day of the show or for future shows.

When I found out we were going to Branson I just wrote to the Chamber of Commerce for a package. The info they sent me included lots of pamphlets for shows. The week before we got there, I called the various ticket offices and reserved seats. We picked them up at the theater the day of the show, 1/2 hour before, if I remember correctly. Our seats were all very good. I imagine, using this method, you could call up to one day in advance. I noticed that the theaters were still selling tickets, right up until the hour before the show started, so they must have seats available. (And we went to good shows, too: Mel Tillis and Oakridge Boys.

Sheil

You are correct. At least some shows are experiencing a slowdown. My grandson-inlaw works for the Japanese fiddle player (I wont even try to spell his name)and he told me last week they are running about 25% short in attendance right now. BTW, Sweet Sue, this show is well worth the price. I saw it in May. If you have kids, you might want to take in Silver Dollar City about a 20 min. drive from Branson.

I think most resorts are running short this summer. Probably because of gas prices.
